Sports Funding Allocation

What is School Sports Premium Grant?

The School Sports Premium Grant is additional funding from the Government to improve provision of physical education (PE) and sport in primary schools.  It is also used to improve the health and well-being of our pupils.

At Larkfields Junior, we want to give our children the necessary skills and enthusiasm to enable them to live a healthy and active life.  By providing a range of physical education lessons, after school clubs, lunch time clubs and by taking part in competitive sporting events, we will:

  • teach pupils the benefits of participating in physical activity
  • develop physical confidence to enable pupils to engage in a variety of activities
  • encourage children to realise the enjoyment and self esteem they can gain from participating in sport and physical activity
  • help pupils to cope with successes and failures in both competitive and cooperative sports and activities

Meeting national curriculum requirements for swimming and water safety
What percentage of your current Year 6 cohort swim, competently, confidently and proficiently over a distance of at least 25 metres?   82%
What percentage of your current Year 6 cohort use a range of strokes effectively (for example front crawl, backstroke and breaststroke)   82%
What percentage of your current Year 6 cohort perform safe self-rescue in different water-based situations   100%
Schools can choose to use the Primary PE and Sport Premium to provide additional provision for swimming but this must be for activity over and above the national curriculum requirements.  Have you used it in this way?   No
